West Ham are continuing to work at rebuilding the squad this summer, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update on the current state of play.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, our Podcast co-host and club insider has advised that there is progress being made, despite reports suggesting that talks had stalled with the ongoing pursuit of Max Kilman of Wolves.

“Now this “stalling” is something we have seen happen many times in the past before with main transfer targets,” stated Ex. “James Ward-Prowse was one of Moyes’ main targets last summer and it happened with him. It also occurred with Scamacca previously and Zouma.

“At the moment we are about £10-£15m apart from Wolves valuation of the player. Lopetegui has made it very clear he wants to sign the player, potentially as his new captain. I don’t think this is over.

“We also tried to offer a player in exchange to Wolves too. It was thought to be both Cornet and Ings, although shifting Ings is going to be hard to anyone because of his wages. He was also offered to Southampton in those talks too.

“Ings has been working hard on his fitness and physique over the summer apparently according to sources close to the player.

I believe we will go back in with another offer to Kilman and whilst I can’t guarantee this and it is just a hunch at this stage I think he will eventually sign.

Ex has also updated on our interest in the Championship market, with Hull City players being the subject of significant interest at this stage.

“Jacob Greaves is the other choice who also can offer versatility,” said the insider. “He plays for Hull City and is someone we have watched for a long time.

“As previously mentioned we also like Jaden Philogene and we will talk about other winger targets later on. The club have already began talks for the exciting winger. There are other continental centre backs that are targets too.”

It’s not just potential incoming players which have made the headlines, with various reports suggesting that clubs are circulating to target our key players – in particular Edson Alvarez, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus.

“As we have said in previous updates despite a lot of talk in the press Bowen, Kudus and Alvarez (who have been ruled out for about 6 weeks) remain likely to stay at the club this summer.

“Of course every player has a price but none of them have expressed an interest to go. This is why the club chose not to make a move for Ismael Kone of Watford and he has joined Marseille it sees because Alvarez is likely to stay.”

Ex also added that the return of players in now set with the home kit set to be launched to coincide with their return to action ahead of the new season in August.

“Players are back in training on 3rd/4th July and kit should launch then,” added Ex.
