Multiple Premier League clubs have made contact with a Turkish star following West Ham’s reported interest.

While the priority has to be signing a couple of centre-backs and a striker, West Ham do desperately need to sign some depth. It’s a lack of backup options that caused their massive drop off last season and it ultimately cost David Moyes his job.

One of the best ways of making sure you have sufficient cover when on a somewhat limited budget is by signing versatile players and that’s exactly what the club seem to be aiming for.

Recent reports claimed that the Hammers were keen on signing Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu. The defender has been sensational in the Turkish league this past season and is enjoying an excellent Euros with his national team. The 24-year-old plays primarily as a left-back, but can also play on the opposite flank as well as in the midfield.

Unfortunately, competition for his signature is rife with Arsenal being just one other club with firm

interest. However, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu no less than four Premier League clubs have made contact with the Turkish side about acquiring his services. Although nothing has been confirmed, you could assume that the Hammers are one of those clubs.

Obviously our Irons already have two left-backs, and it’s hard to imagine anyone getting ahead of Emerson, but his versatility could make him an extremely valuable squad player. There’s also the possibility that he could be switched to play as a right-back primarily and act as direct competition to Vladimir Coufal.
