West Ham have been dealt a massive blow in their pursuit of a Championship star as European giants submit an official offer to his club.

There’s no denying that the Championship is one of the best leagues in the world to find young, hungry talent in. The likes of Jack Grealish, Ollie Watkins and Ruben Neves all made their name in the second tier of English football.

West Ham themselves have signed some of their best players when dipping into the leagues below. Arguably their best signing in the Premier League era is Jarrod Bowen who joined from Hull, and it looks like the Hammers could once again turn to the Tigers to find their next winger.

Jaden Philogene has enjoyed an unbelievable season, scoring 12 goals and assisting a further 6 in 32 league games. The 22-year-old was allowed to leave Aston Villa last Summer for just £5 million which is a decision which could come back to haunt them.

While West Ham have reportedly made signing him one of their top priorities, they may miss out as Barcelona are said to have submitted an offer for the Englishman. “Been told the interest of FC Barcelona in Jaden Philogene is very concrete now!” Florian Plettenberg posted on X.

“FC Barcelona have submitted an official offer to Hull City! One year loan with an obligation to buy (which is tied to certain conditions such as playing time) in 2025 of around €20-23m!  Contract of the 22 y/o talented winger is valid until 2026. Barcelona have analyzed him in detail.”

Unfortunately, as much as West Ham have more pulling power than ever, it’s hard for any player to turn down the likes of Barcelona. If our Irons want to sign him, they have to act fast or otherwise he could be playing in the Nou Camp rather than the London Stadium.
