A West Ham youngster who turned down an “amazing offer” could be on his way to the Championship.

In football, you tend to get clubs that feed players to another club. A lot of the time it’s due to a mutual respect and a good relationship between the two sides, sometimes it’s purely coincidental.

However, for whatever reason, Sunderland have consistently picked up some of West Ham’s youth talent that they’ve not wanted to keep over recent years. Alese and Pierre Ekwah are just two examples of this, and they could be joined by one of the Academy of Football’s most highly rated prospects.

This season just finished really should have been Divin Mubama’s time to shine. The young striker had little to no competition for the striker spot when Michail Antonio got injured towards the end of 2023. Despite this, David Moyes never really gave him an opportunity and when he did it was sporadic.

While he did decently in those limited minutes, he never set the world alight, which you can’t blame him for as any young player needs to feature consistently in order to adjust to professional football.

Unfortunately, despite being offered an “amazing” contract, he’s decided not to extend his stay in East London and, according to The Northern Echo, he could be moving to the North East instead.

The Black Cats are great at signing young talent and developing them into first team players – hopefully Mubama is able to make a name for himself there. The fact he’s rejected a supposedly big offer would suggest that it’s not the money that’s caused him to leave the club and if that is the case then you can only wish him the best as he looks to kickstart his career.
