Mohammed Kudus has admitted that it’s “difficult” to adapt to a new manager’s system, but he plans to keep doing what he does best

Since signing from Ajax last Summer, Mohammed Kudus has proved himself to be a bargain for £38 million. For West Ham alone, he scored 14 goals and provided 6 assists during his first campaign in England. He’s scored some sensational strikes and showed up in the moments where it matters.

Unsurprisingly his immense form has attracted interest from multiple other clubs, but Kudus seems to be fully focused on helping the Hammers succeed next season.

The versatile Ghanaian does have a new challenge to face over the coming months though, and that’s adapting to another new manager’s system. Transfering from Ajax to David Moyes’ style of play must’ve been extremely tricky for a player who likes to play with the ball at his feet, but he will have to do it all over again now under Julen Lopetegui.

While playing under different gaffers is something he admits to finding difficult, he’s confident it won’t stop him from playing the way he does. “Yeh definitely, it’s very difficult to get used to a new system every single time,” he explained. “Even when playing with the club team and the national team with different coaches as well.”

“Being versatile, being able to adapt to different kinds of coaches, it’s something you have to always be up for.”

“Whichever coach comes, for me, my style of play will always stay the same but I will need to blend in, work with the coach and then give the team the results they want. But yeah, I’m still going to be me and the stuff you see me doing is still going to be the same, just under a different coach.”

In reality, Kudus is the type of player that any manager would love to have, no matter what system they play. Not only does he have the skill, the pace and the end product but he also works incredibly hard which makes him the complete package. There is little doubt that Lopetegui will see him as one of the most important players in his set up and hopefully our star boy can go even further next season.
