West Ham United are expected to make a new offer for Max Kilman this week after having a £30m offer rejected, according to a GiveMeSport exclusive.

The Hammers will reportedly hit Wolverhampton Wanderers with a fresh offer for Kilman this week, which is expected to be closer to £40m. The East Londoners have decided to come back with an offer that would break the club’s transfer record for a defender, overtaking Nayef Aguerd who cost the club £30m in 2022.

The midlands outfit are in a strong negotiating position as the defender still has 4-years remaining on his £50,000 a week contract at Molineux. So, it could take the full £45m price tag to get him out of his contract.

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui is desperate to get this move over the line, he has named him as his top centre-back target this summer. He impressed under the Spaniard at Wolves and he reportedly wants to make Kilman West Ham captain upon his arrival.

The GiveMeSport source also suggests that Kilman is aware of Lopetegui’s eagerness to bring him to the London Stadium, and he too is keen to link up with the Spaniard again.
