West Ham are closing in on the signing of Max Kilman, with our insider ExWHUEmployee providing an update.

As was reported by Ex yesterday, the club had a 3rd offer for the player accepted by Wolves and that Kilman is now likely to join and become the club captain under new Head Coach Julen Lopetegui.

Providing an update on The West Ham Way Patreon, our Podcast co-host Ex has now reported that the deal for Kilman is nearing conclusion, following a successful medical yesterday.

“Kilman was at West Ham today for his medical and all has gone to plan,” stated our insider. “Personal terms for the player have been agreed as has the fee which was said to be a straight £40m.

“The only negotiations that were still going on was agent fees as they often are but the player is expected to either sign on Friday or Saturday at the latest.”

Ex also further advised that the club will now be shifting their attention onto other targets, with it understood the potential sale of Nayef Aguerd will dictate whether we go for another defender this summer.

“I have had it confirmed today that we are unlikely to sign another centre back unless Aguerd goes,” said Ex. “We are interested in the French defender Jean-Clair Todibo but his very public move was a catalyst to speed up the Kilman move.

“We do like Jean-Clair Todibo and would have signed him had the Kilman deal not happened and we got an offer accepted. As I explained yesterday there is a chance Nice hold on until next season when Manchester United may be able to sign the player however this hasn’t stopped us trying.

“If/when Kilman joins but no other centre back leaves we probably won’t sign anyone but if Aguerd or Zouma go then we will. Tobido could then become the main target and depending on whether they haven’t been signed by anyone else Jake O’Brien at Lyon and Jacob Greaves would also be considered.

“The next priority is to sign a forward and main focus will go there although it is quite possible the next position in could be a right back. Talks have continue with Kyle Walker-Peters and Southampton and we would like to conclude that deal.”
